The crude prevalence rate of insulin use increased from 2.43 per 1,000 population in 1991 to 6.71 per 1,000 in 2010. The largest change was an increase in the prevalence of insulin users with a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes from 0.67 to 4.34 per 1000 population.
