Intensive versus standard blood pressure control in type 2 diabetes: a restricted mean survival time analysis of a randomised controlled trial
Intensive BP treatment may reduce death and cardiovascular events among patients with type 2 diabetes receiving standard glycaemic treatment and without cognitive impairment (BMJOpen)
Effects of intensive interventions compared to standard care in people with type 2 diabetes and microalbuminuria on risk factors control and cardiovascular outcomes
Apart from blood pressure outcomes, there was no evidence that intensive interventions improve or worsen HbA1c, total cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides, urinary albumin excretion rate, risk of cardiovascular or mortality outcomes in people with type 2 diabetes and microalbuminuria. Results of this review are mainly influenced by one small trial, hence uncertainty surrounding the effect of intensive interventions in people with type 2 diabetes and microalbuminuria still exists. Large studies are urgently required in this high risk cardiovascular group of patients (Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice)
Intensive Treatment and Severe Hypoglycemia Among Adults With Type 2 Diabetes
More than 20% of patients with type 2 diabetes received intensive treatment that may be unnecessary. Among patients with high clinical complexity, intensive treatment nearly doubles the risk of severe hypoglycemia (JAMA)
